What are bangle boxes?
Bangle boxes are small, square rigid cases with a lid joined at the back. Inside, a padded holder grips the bangle so it stands upright instead of rolling in a corner. They are made to the bangle's diameter and width, then wrapped and printed to your brief.
The lid is joined at the back and lifts like a case. Feels like a keepsake case rather than a carton.

How bangle boxes are put together
The lid is joined at the back and lifts like a case. Each one is built from five parts:
- Hinged lid
- Printed wrap
- Greyboard walls
- Insert or cavity
- Hinge along the back
What is a bangle box, and who orders one?
A bangle is a hard ring with no clasp, so it cannot lie flat in a pad like a chain. It needs a box that holds it on its edge. That is the whole job of a bangle box.
Our version is a square rigid case, roughly the footprint of a coaster, with a lid that opens from the back. A holder in the base grips the bangle and keeps the front of it facing up the lid.
It sits alongside the rest of our jewellery and watch box range, and the buyers are mostly the same people.
- Independent jewellers selling silver, gold or enamel bangles
- Makers of beaded and stacking bangles who sell at fairs and online
- Bridal shops giving a bangle to each bridesmaid
- Families ordering bangles for an Eid, christening or birthday gift
- Corporate teams marking a long-service award with an engraved cuff
How does the hinged lid open?
The lid and base are joined along the back by a wrapped hinge. You lift the front edge and the lid swings up and back, like a ring case but wider.
In the brown sample in our photos, the lid stops a little past upright. A short ribbon stay between lid and base does that job, so the lid does not drop backwards onto the counter.
The hinge is made from the wrap itself, folded over the board, with no metal parts to catch a sleeve. If you want to compare it with other cases, our page on hinged lid rigid boxes shows the plain version.
One photo shows a teal patterned case with a small press stud at the front. A stud or a magnet under the wrap can be added when the box will travel in a handbag.
What size box fits a bangle?
Measure the outside diameter at the widest point, then the width of the band. A typical adult bangle is about 65 to 75 mm across inside, so 70 to 85 mm outside.
Add about 10 mm each way for the holder and the lining. Then add 15 mm to the band width for the inside height, so the lid clears the top of the bangle.
Oval bangles and open cuffs need both diameters. Send the longest and shortest, and say which way the opening faces. The gaps we leave around a product are set out in how to size a rigid box.
Which board and wrap suit a bangle case?
Greyboard forms the case, and a thicker grade is available on request. A bangle is light, so the board is there for feel and shape rather than strength. A thicker board gives crisper corners and a heavier lid.
The wrap covers every face. Plain dark papers like the chocolate brown in our first photo hide finger marks well. Textured or linen-look papers make a small box feel more expensive in the hand.
Printed wrap works for patterns, as the teal case shows. Board, wrap, insert and finish options are available on request, and we will say which papers fold cleanly around a hinge this small.
Which holder keeps a bangle upright?
The holder is the part your customer touches first, so it is worth choosing with care. Each option suits a different kind of bangle.
If you are unsure, send one bangle and we will suggest a holder. The card, foam and satin inserts guide explains how each one is cut.
| Holder | How it works | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Padded half-roll | A covered foam roll sits in a slot; the bangle slips over it | Closed bangles of one fixed size |
| Upright card bridge | A C-shaped card stand, as in our brown sample, holds the bangle on edge | Slim bangles and light cuffs |
| Cylinder post | A short covered tube stands in the base and the bangle drops over it | Wide bangles and heavier cuffs |
| Foam slot | A cut slot grips the band and leaves the face showing | Stacks of two or three thin bangles |
Print and finishes for the lid
Most bangle boxes carry one mark on the lid and nothing else. A small foil name in the centre reads well on a case only 90 mm wide.
You can add finishes as options. Soft touch or matt lamination, foil, embossing, debossing and spot UV all work on a case this small. Debossing a logo into a dark wrap gives a quiet look that suits silver.
Inside the lid, the lining can carry a printed line, such as your name or care advice. You can try your logo on the lid in Design Your Box before quoting.
Does a bangle box keep its value after the gift?
A good bangle case rarely goes in the bin. People keep it on a dresser and put the bangle back in at night.
That is why the holder and hinge matter more than the print. A case that still closes neatly after months of use keeps your name in front of the owner.
Some brands sell a matching lift-off box for chain bracelets, like the black two-piece in our second photo. Our bracelet boxes with lift-off lids cover that style.
How do you post a bangle box safely?
The case arrives fully made up, so it is ready to fill. For posting, put it in a snug outer carton with about 10 mm of paper or card packing on every side.
Keep the case the right way up in the shipper, so the bangle stays on its holder. A loose bangle can mark the lining if the box spends a journey upside down.
Our own deliveries to you are free and tracked across the UK, and our UK delivery details explain the timings.
What mistakes do people make with bangle boxes?
Most problems come from measuring the wrong thing or choosing a holder for the wrong bangle. These are the ones we see most.
- Giving the inside diameter only, so the box is cut too small for the outside
- Ordering one holder size for a range of bangle sizes
- Forgetting the height of stones or charms on top of the band
- Choosing a glossy pale wrap for a case that will be handled every day
- Skipping the ribbon stay, so the lid falls flat and strains the hinge

Bangle Boxes: questions
Can one bangle box hold different bangle sizes?
Within reason. A foam slot or cylinder post grips bangles a few millimetres apart, but a big jump in diameter needs its own holder size.
Will a bangle box fit a cuff with an opening?
Yes. Tell us the gap width and which way it should face, and we shape the holder so the cuff sits open side down.
How many bangles can one case hold?
One to three stacked bangles is usual in a square case. For more, we make a longer case with two or three holders in a row.
Can the lining match my brand colour?
Yes. The lining and holder covering can be matched to a colour you send, and we show it on the free proof.
Does a bangle case close with a magnet?
The lid rests closed on its hinge as standard. A magnet or press stud at the front is an option for cases that travel.
Can you engrave or print a name inside the lid?
We print rather than engrave. Your name or a short message goes on the lining inside the lid, in print or foil.
Are bangle boxes suitable for children's bangles?
Yes. Baby and child bangles are much smaller, often 40 to 50 mm across, so we cut a smaller case and holder.
Which is better for a bangle, a hinged case or a lift-off box?
A hinged case keeps lid and base together and suits a keepsake. A lift-off box is quicker to pack and suits bangles sold in sets.
Can I add a ribbon pull or bow to a bangle box?
A ribbon tie around the case or a ribbon stay inside the lid can both be added as options.
Do you send a sample case before the full order?
Our designers send a free proof of the size, wrap and print first, so you can check it before anything is made.
What happens if a bangle case arrives marked?
Send photos within 10 days and we reprint or refund. The steps are on our misprints and refunds page.
Can I order bangle boxes and bracelet boxes together?
Yes. Many jewellers order both in one wrap and finish, and we quote them on the same written quote.
