Bracelet boxes are quoted in writing once we know the circle size, pad and wrap.

What are bracelet boxes?

Bracelet boxes are square rigid boxes sized to a bracelet laid flat, with an insert that stops it sliding. The standard build here is a lift-off lid over a wrapped base. A pad with tabs suits chains, and a shaped well suits cuffs and bangles.

A separate lid lifts straight off the base. A slow lift as air lets the lid go.

How bracelet boxes are put together

A separate lid lifts straight off the base. Each one is built from five parts:

  1. Lift-off lid
  2. Printed wrap
  3. Greyboard walls
  4. Insert or tissue bed
  5. Lid depth and fit

What is a bracelet box?

It is a small, square rigid box sized so a bracelet can lie in a full circle without bending. Inside, a pad or a tray holds it in place.

On this page the box is a lift-off lid style: a wrapped greyboard base and a loose lid that slides over it. You lift the lid straight up and the bracelet is there, flat and centred.

Why use a lift-off lid for a bracelet?

A lift-off lid opens the whole top at once. With nothing hinged at the back, the bracelet is seen from directly above, which is how a round piece looks best.

The lid also gives a deep, even grip on all four sides. A charm bracelet with weight to it will not push a lift-off lid open in a bag.

Our photos also show hinged and flap versions of the same idea. If you prefer one of those, say so and we quote it. For the lid style in other sizes, see our lift-off lid rigid boxes.

Lid depth is a choice too. A full-depth lid hides the base completely, while a shallower one shows a strip of base wall in a second colour.

Who orders bracelet boxes?

Bracelets sell as gifts more often than many pieces, so the box is often the only wrapping the buyer uses.

That means the box has to look finished on its own, with no gift bag or paper round it.

  • Charm bracelet sellers who add charms over time
  • Makers of beaded and stretch bracelets selling online
  • Jewellers boxing chain and tennis-style bracelets
  • Friendship and wedding bracelet sellers boxing sets of three
  • Engravers who need a cuff's engraved face showing

What size box fits a bracelet?

Close the clasp and lay the bracelet on a table as a circle. Measure across it at the widest point, then add 10 mm for the pad margin.

Most chain bracelets of about 18 cm make a circle about 60 mm across, so a box about 80 mm square fits. Charm bracelets need extra width and height for the charms.

For cuffs, measure the opening and the height of the cuff as it stands. A cuff usually sits upright in a slot or on its side in a shaped well.

Give us the circle size on your order, not the bracelet length, so we size from the same number you measured.

How is a bracelet held inside?

Our second photo shows the two-tab pad in cream. The tabs hold a chain straight across the box. For heavy bangles, our bangle boxes with deeper wells are a better fit.

Board, wrap and lining

Both parts start as greyboard, in a thickness chosen for the size, then get a printed or plain paper wrap. Textured and linen-look wraps are options.

A printed lining turns the open box into a backdrop. The teal box in our first photo has a pale floral print inside the lid, and the bracelet sits against it.

Pad colour should contrast with the metal. Cream pads suit dark beads and rose gold. Black and navy pads suit silver chains.

Lid and base can also be wrapped in two colours. A dark lid over a pale base shows a thin line of colour where they meet.

Logos and finishes

The lid top of a bracelet box is about 80 to 110 mm square. A centred logo 25 to 35 mm wide, foil blocked or embossed, sits comfortably.

A deboss, a spot UV gloss or a soft touch, matt or gloss laminate can also be chosen. The teal box in our photos shows how a pale emblem on the pad can echo the logo on the lid.

Artwork placement by our designers is free, and one proof shows lid, base and pad together. For a side-by-side look at finishes, read which finishes suit a rigid box.

Inside the lid, a short care line or your shop name is seen each time the box opens.

Can bracelet boxes work for bridesmaids and sets?

Yes. Matching bracelets for a bridal party are one of the most common orders for this box. Each box is the same size and wrap, and a printed name card can sit on the pad.

For a set of three bracelets in one box, the pad gets three tabs or a wider roll. The box grows to about 110 mm square so the strands do not overlap.

Planning favours and keepsakes for the day as well? Our wedding and invitation boxes can share the same wrap and foil.

Sending bracelets by post

A lift-off lid holds by friction, so a paper band or a ribbon round the box keeps it shut in a parcel. Avoid tape on the wrap.

Chains should be hooked round tabs before the lid goes on. A loose chain gathers in one corner and often arrives knotted.

A small padded envelope or a shipper with 10 mm of filler round the box covers most single bracelets.

Beaded strands are heavier than they look. Pack them so the box sits flat, or the beads can roll off the cushion and rest against one wall.

Common mistakes with bracelet boxes

Most of these show up on the proof. Check the pad drawing against the real bracelet before you approve it.

  1. Measuring the bracelet straight instead of as a closed circle.
  2. Leaving no room for charms, so they press against the lid.
  3. Choosing a pad colour that matches the metal and hides it.
  4. Sending chain bracelets with no tabs, so they tangle.
  5. Using a shallow box for a cuff that needs to stand up.

How to order bracelet boxes

Send the bracelet size as a circle, the insert type, your wrap colour and the quantity. You get a written price for that order in reply.

Your free proof shows the box and the pad. Once you approve, boxes are made within 4–6 business days and the free tracked delivery that follows takes 2–3 business days anywhere in the UK.

If you also box rings or pendants, our magnetic flap jewellery boxes can match the same wrap.

Bracelet Boxes: questions

What size box fits a standard chain bracelet?

A chain bracelet of about 18 cm forms a circle about 60 mm across. A box about 80 mm square and 25 mm deep holds it with room for the pad.

How do you keep a bracelet from sliding in the box?

The chain hooks round two tabs on the pad, or a beaded strand rolls over a raised cushion. Both keep it centred.

Can a bracelet box hold a charm bracelet?

Yes. Charm bracelets need a wider margin and more depth, usually about 95 mm square and 35 mm deep.

Is a lift-off lid secure for posting a bracelet?

The lid grips by friction on all four sides. A paper band or ribbon round the box adds a firm seal for the post.

Can the bracelet box lid have a printed lining?

Yes. A printed lining, like the floral print in our teal photo, is an option and shows as soon as the lid comes off.

Can one bracelet box hold three stacked bracelets?

Yes. A box about 110 mm square with a wider pad or roll holds three bracelets side by side.

Can I order a bracelet box with a hinged lid?

Yes. Our photos show hinged and flap versions too. Tell us which you prefer and we quote it.

What insert suits a beaded stretch bracelet?

A raised roll or cushion. The bracelet rolls over it and keeps its round shape.

Can a cuff bracelet stand up in the box?

Yes. A slot in the pad holds the cuff upright, or a shaped well holds it on its side.

Do bracelet boxes arrive ready to fill?

Yes. They arrive made up with lids on and the pad or insert fitted.

Can the pad carry a logo or emblem?

Yes. A small foil or printed mark on the pad, like the emblem in our teal photo, is an option.

How do I measure a bracelet I have not made yet?

Use the finished length you plan to sell and lay a piece of string that long in a circle. Our sizing guide for rigid boxes explains the clearance to add.
